Jim George (born 1 June 1935) is an American former weightlifter who competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics and in the 1960 Summer Olympics.[1]

About

George competed in the lightheavy weight class (181 lbs) standing at 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was born in Akron, Ohio.[2]

Family

George is the son of Bulgarian immigrants from Macedonia. His brother, Pete George, was also a well known Olympic weightlifter.[2]

Education

George obtained his DDS degree from Ohio State University.[2]

Career

In addition to his Olympic medals he won a silver medal and a bronze medal at World Weightlifting Championships and held an Olympic and two world records. He was also a four-time national champion in the light-heavyweight class and in 1959 won the light-heavyweight class at the 1959 Pan American Games.[2]
