James "Jim" Colver is an American politician from Alaska. A Republican, he is a member of the Alaska House of Representatives, serving from House District 9 since 2015. He is also a former assemblyman for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.[1]
Colver mounted a successful primary challenge to incumbent Representative Eric Feige in 2014; the Chickaloon Republican finished third in the three-way primary election on August 19.[2] He went on to defeat Palmer Democrat Mabel Wimmer and Constitution Party nominee Pam Goode of Delta Junction in the general election, finishing on top in another three-way contest.[3][4]
Personal life
Colver lives in the Hatcher Pass area, near Palmer. He was born in Anchorage.[5] He joined the Republican Party in 2012. He acknowledged during his 2014 campaign that he previously supported several Democratic candidates, including Mark Begich in the 2008 U.S. Senate election.[6]
