Jiang Chaoliang (Chinese: 蒋超良; born August 1957) is a Chinese banker and politician. He is the acting governor of Jilin province in Northeast China, and formerly served as the Chairman of the Agricultural Bank of China.
Career
Jiang graduated with a Master’s degree in Economics from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics and is a senior economist.[1] His first position upon graduation was as director of the Shenzhen Division of SAFE. He then served in the same capacity within the Guangdong Division. A further summary of his career is presented below:
- June 2000-June 2002: Assistant Governor of the People's Bank of China
- September 2002-June 2004: Co-Deputy Governor of Hubei
- June 2004-September 2008: Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Communications
- September 2008-December 2011: President and Vice Chairman of the China Development Bank
- January 2012 – present: Chairman and Chairman of Strategic Planning Committee of the Agricultural Bank of China[2]
He is credited with transforming the Bank of Communications into a dual-listed company with HSBC Holdings and as acting as its strategic investor and partner. [3]
In September 2014, Jiang was appointed acting governor of Jilin province, succeeding Bayanqolu, who had been appointed Communist Party Chief of the province.[4] He was confirmed as Governor by the provincial People's Congress on October 29, 2014.[5]
