Jhargram (community development block) is an administrative division in Jhargram subdivision of Paschim Medinipur district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Jhargram police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is at Jhargram.[1][2]
Geography
Jhargram is located at 22°27′N 86°59′E / 22.45°N 86.98°E.
Jhargram community development block has an area of 539.64 km2.[2]
Gram panchayats
Gram panchayats of Jamboni block/ panchayat samiti are: Aguiboni, Bundhgora, Chandri, Chubka, Dudhkundi, Lodhasuli, Manikpara, Nendahbahara, Patasimul, Radhanagar, Salboni, Sapdhara and Sardiha.[3]
Demographics
As per 2001 census, Jhargram block had a total population of 153,381, out of which 78,362 were males and 75,019 were females. Jhargram block registered a population growth of 14.64 per cent during the 1991-2001 decade. Decadal growth for the combined Midnapore district was 14.87 per cent.[2] Decadal growth in West Bengal was 17.45 per cent.[4]
