Jessie Brown Pounds
Jessie Hunter Brown Pounds (born 1861 August 31, died 1921) was an American lyricist of gospel songs.
"Anywhere with Jesus" is possibly the most well known of her poems. It has been set to a number of musical scores, the most familiar being tune SERENITY by Daniel B. Towner (1850–1919).
A staff writer for Christian Standard, she often collaborated with composer Frederick A. Fillmore (1856–1925). In 1897 she married John E. Pounds, minister of the Central Christian Church in Hiram, Ohio, adjacent to Hiram College.[1]
