Jesse Sene-Lefao (born 8 December 1989) is a professional rugby league footballer for the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles of the National Rugby League. He primarily plays second-row and centre. Sene-Lefao is nephew of West Tigers centre Tim Simona and cousin of North Queensland Cowboys centre Matthew Wright (rugby league).
Playing career
Sene-Lefao played his junior football for the Penrith Brothers before being signed by the Penrith Panthers. Sene-Lefao played for the Panthers' NYC team in 2008 and 2009, scoring 15 tries in 38 games.[1]
Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles 2013-
2013
In 2013, Sene-Lefao joined the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. In Round 1 of the 2013 NRL season he made his NRL debut for the Sea Eagles against the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium, playing off the interchange bench in the Sea Eagles 22-14 win.[2][3] Sene-Lefao played his 2nd and last match for Sea Eagles in the 2013 NRL season in Round 8 against the St George Illawarra Dragons in the Sea Eagles 24-18 win at Jubilee Oval.[4] Sene-Lefao spent most the year playing for the Sea Eagles New South Wales Cup team. Sene-Lefao played 2 matches for the Sea Eagles in his debut year in the NRL in the 2013 NRL season.
2014
In 14 February 2014, Sene-Lefao was selected in the Sea Eagles inaugural 2014 NRL Auckland Nines squad.[5] On 3 May 2014, Sene-Lefao was selected to make his international debut for Samoa in the 2014 Pacific Rugby League International test against Fiji at Penrith Stadium. Sene-Lefao played off the interchange bench in Samoa's 32-16 win.[6] On 27 June 2014, Sene-Lefao re-signed with the Sea Eagles on a 2-year contract.[7][8] In Round 13 against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Brookvale Oval, Sene-Lefao scored his first NRL career try in the Sea Eagles 32-10 win.[9] Sene-Lefao later finished off the Sea Eagles 2014 NRL season with him playing in 25 matches and scoring 1 try (4p). On 17 October 2014, Sene-Lefao was a late selection for the Samoa national rugby league team for the 2014 Four Nations after Suaia Matagi was selected in the New Zealand Kiwis squad.[10]
