Jerrika Delayne Hinton[2] (born September 21, 1981) is an American actress, best known for portraying the character of Stephanie Edwards on Grey's Anatomy.
Early life
Hinton was born and raised in Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas. She is the daughter of Avaleon Hinton and Cynthia Hinton, a retired Dallas government worker.[3] She graduated in Spring 2002 with honors[4] from Southern Methodist University's Meadows School of the Arts with a BFA in the Liberal Arts, where she studied theatre, directing and playwriting.[5][6]
Career
Hinton first appeared in 2006 film Rain and has since guest-starred in several TV series such as Gilmore Girls, Everybody Hates Chris, Zoey 101, Ghost Whisperer, Gossip Girl, Lie to Me, Bones, and Scandal. Other film credits include Broken Angels and The Roommate.
In September 2012, it was announced that Hinton had been cast as new intern Stephanie Edwards for Grey's Anatomy's ninth season.[7] In January 2013, it was announced that Hinton along with other newcomers to the show were given the option to become series regulars if Grey's Anatomy were to be renewed.[8]
