Jeon Ji-yoon (born October 15, 1990) is a South Korean idol singer. She is a member of the girl group, 4Minute, formed by Cube Entertainment in 2009. She is also a member in the duo sub-unit group, 2Yoon, with Gayoon, also formed by Cube Entertainment, in 2013.
Biography
Jeon Ji-yoon was born on October 15, 1990[1] in Seoul, South Korea. She graduated from Byeongjeom High School and is currently attending Kyung Hee University, majoring in Post Modern Music.
Career
4Minute
Ji-yoon was announced by Cube Entertainment as a member of the girl group 4Minute under Cube Entertainment in May 2009 together with Ga Yoon & So Hyun. Cube Entertainment had released a teaser for their first single "Hot Issue" on 10 June while the single debuted on June 18. The group promoted the song from its release until August.
At the end of August, 4Minute released a mini-album called "For Muzik" which was alongside their second single, "Muzik". 4Minute won a mutizen award and a mnet award for their second single "Muzik". Their third single was "What A Girl Wants" was released shortly after the release of their EP.
After a successful promotion period, the group released a new mini-album entitled HuH (Hit Your Heart) for their comeback on May 19, 2010. And after almost a year of hiatus, the group then released their first full length Korean album titled 4MINUTES LEFT. The album and their two lead promotional singles maintained their positions in the top 10 of many Korean REAL TIME Charts. After the promotions of their first full length album, the group focused on their Japanese activities.
And after more than a year of hiatus, the group finally made a comeback last April 9 with their third mini album, ‘Volume Up’ which topped music charts and made them one three times on music shows; two times on Show Champion and one time on M! Countdown.
Solo activities
On October 15, 2009, she was a featured artist in Woo Yi Kyung's album Look At Me with the song "Look At Me". On April 13, 2010, she was a featured artist in Lee Hyori's fourth album H-Logic with the song "Bring It Back" together with After School's Bekah.[2] She sang in the soundtrack of MBC's My Princess, with the song "Oasis", released on February 7, 2011.[3] She was also featured in Hyuna's album Bubble Pop! in the song "Downtown". The album was released on July 5, 2011.[4]
Ji-yoon joined KBS's Immortal Songs 2 in June 2011 as a replacement of Song Ji Eun of Secret due to their Japanese promotions. "I felt that her vocals were more charming than [4Minute's] main vocalist Gayoon," the producer of the show said.[5] On the show, professionals sing competitively and are judged by a studio audience of 200.[6] She sang "We Meet Again" in an episode broadcast on July 15.[6] And joining on KBS's Immortal Songs 2, she won together with DJ Koo with the song "I (Nan)" originally by Clon against Super Junior's Kyu Hyun and Son Ho Young.
On December 22, representatives of Cube Entertainment revealed that following the debut of their first unit group, Trouble Maker, the second unit group has been chosen to be her along with 4Minute member Ga-yoon. They revealed that the two will be debuting as a unit after the release of 4minute’s comeback album and promotions on 2012. They eventually chose the name 투윤, romanized as 2Yoon. 2Yoon released their debut EP and lead single, "24/7" on 17 January 2013.[7]
On September 2014 was revealed that Ji-yoon will making her actress debut with the online drama Dreaming CEO.[8]
