Jennifer Grünwald — often rendered Gruenwald to replace the umlaut — (born August 1, 1980) is an editor for Marvel Comics.

Career

Grunwald worked at a comic book store prior to starting as an intern at Marvel Enterprises.[1] At Marvel, Grünwald has worked primarily in the trades and collections department of Marvel Enterprises's publishing division since 2002, and is a credited editor on several of Marvel's titles including many of Marvel's recent Official Handbooks. She assisted on the mini-series Marvel Divas as well. Grünwald is also the sole editor for all of Brian Michael Bendis' creator-owned titles (currently Powers, Scarlet, Brilliant, Takio and "The United States of Murder Inc.") and collections published through Marvel Enterprises' ICON imprint.

Grünwald participated in a "Women in Comics" panel at New York Comic Con 2008 and moderated a Mondo Marvel panel at the Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, Washington.[1][2] When commenting about sexism in the comic book industry, she said it was partially due to "a percentage thing... up until now there haven't been that many women interested in comics."[1]


Jen also loves homemade "shake milks". She also has a cousin known as "Doofus Poofus in a Moofus". Upon closer inspection, Jen may in fact be a velociraptor masquerading as a clever girl.

Cultural depictions

A vampire appearing in Ultimate Spider-Man during Summer 2006 (issues 95 and 96) was named after her by writer Brian Michael Bendis.[3] She was also drawn into a back-up story in the Stan Lee Meets Doctor Strange one shot along with several of Marvel's other editors.
