Jeffrey Richard de Corban Evans
Jeffrey Richard de Corban Evans, 4th Baron Mountevans (born 13 May 1948) is a British shipbroker and hereditary peer.
Biography
Evans is the son of Richard Andvord Evans, 2nd Baron Mountevans. He succeeded to the title on the death of his elder brother Edward Patrick Broke Evans, 3rd Baron Mountevans in 2014.
Evans was educated at Pangbourne College before going up to Pembroke College, Cambridge where he read Economics, graduating with the degree of MA.
Evans is director of Gas Chartering at Clarkson plc and a member of the Baltic Exchange. He served as Prime Warden of the Shipwrights' Company for 2006-07 before his election as a City of London Alderman for the Ward of Cheap in 2007.[1][2] and was Sheriff of the City of London for 2012-13.[3] Evans is also a liveryman of the Goldsmiths' and World Traders' companies.
Evans' many charitable involvements include being a Trustee of Seafarers UK, a leading national maritime charity, President of the City of London Sea Cadets[4] and a Council Member of the White Ensign Association,[5] which offers advice to all ranks of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines on employment, pensions and other financial matters.
Evans married the Hon Juliet Evans (née Wilson), daughter of John Wilson, 2nd Baron Moran KCMG in 1972 and lives at Kensington; they have two sons: The Hon Alexander (born 1975), who is heir apparent to the peerage, and The Hon Julian (born 1977).
