Jeff Rense

Jeff Rense is an American radio talk-show host of the Jeff Rense Program, broadcast on US satellite radio via the Rense Radio Network and Internet radio.[1]

Rense's radio program and website, Rense.com, promote fringe views such as 9/11 conspiracy theories,[2] UFO reporting, paranormal phenomena, tracking of new diseases and possible resultant pandemics, environmental concerns (see chemtrails), animal rights, possible evidence of advanced ancient technology, geopolitical developments and emergent energy technologies, complementary and alternative medicine, conspiracy theories which have been labelled anti-semitic [3] among other subjects. In addition to articles critical of Israel and Zionists, the website also carries articles which defend Iran's policies from its critics [4] and opposes anti-Iranian media bias.[5]

Radio show

Rense first tried his hand at radio while an education major at the University of California Santa Barbara. Sometime in 1994 Rense decided to self-finance his own radio show and approached Santa Barbara radio station KTMS with his idea for a talk radio show. The web stream radio show was originally known as "Sightings on the Radio", by agreement with actor/producer Henry Winkler, who was producing the syndicated television show "Sightings" (TV series 1992–1997).[6] The radio show was web broadcast at the web address www.sightings.com. About the year 2000, all reference to "Sightings" was dropped, and the new web site www.rense.com was introduced. The show is broadcast live over the internet.

The show was originally distributed by Premiere Radio Networks, but was dropped in the late 1990s. Genesis Communications Network took over distribution at that time, and carried the show through August 2009, at which point he pulled the show from the network after he accused fellow GCN host Alex Jones of terrorizing his family.[7] Rense is currently streamed via the Rense Radio Network.

Show topics and previous guests

Two recurring themes on the Rense show are a general mistrust of the establishment (ranging from the right-wing to President Barack Obama), and a range of theories about who was behind the September 11 attacks on the New York World Trade Center in 2001. Regular guests include conspiracy theorists, geopolitical experts, ufologists, and have included Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, The Political Cesspool host James Edwards, Jordan Maxwell, and Devvy Kidd. Journalist Kourosh Ziabari, who was honored by Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a contributor to the website on topics such as Saudi Arabia's betrayal of the Islamic world [4][8] One of Rense's favourite guests is David Duke and paranormal expert Brad Steiger, who is also a personal friend of Rense. Rense has also interviewed controversial South African journalist Jani Allan.[9]

Criticism of Anti-Semitic content

The Anti-Defamation League declared that the Rense web site promotes anti-semitic views,[3] citing examples such as quoting from The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,[10] Holocaust denial,[11] allegations that a conspiracy of Jews were involved in 9/11,[12] and other similar types of articles.

An author on the rense.com website, Michael Goodspeed, disputed allegations of anti-Semitism by Art Bell claiming "If I believed there was even the remotest chance that Jeff was anti-Semitic, I would not even consider contributing to his website."[13]

Books

Rense authored the 1997 book "AIDS Exposed" (BioAlert press, ISBN 0-9648989-0-X).[14]
