Jeff Nichols (born December 7, 1978) is an American film director and screenwriter from Little Rock, Arkansas. He studied filmmaking at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Nichols directed Shotgun Stories (2007), Take Shelter (2011) and Mud (2012), all of which have received high praise from film critics.[1]
Nichols is currently in post-production on the sci-fi chase film Midnight Special, inspired by the movies of John Carpenter.[2]
Career
His 2012 film Mud competed for the Palme d'Or at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.[3][4]
In 2012, he was the President of the Jury of the 7th Rome Film Festival.

Personal life
He is the brother of Lucero guitarist and singer Ben Nichols.[6]
