Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Rane joined Mumbai as a youth player in 2008 and during the 2012 I-League U20, the top youth league in India, ended as the top scorer throughout the entire league with 13 goals. Rane then scored his first ever professional goal for Mumbai in the I-League on 18 October 2013 against Salgaocar in which he found the net in the 85th minute as Mumbai lost the match 1–3.[4]
Rane extended his contract for 1 more year with Mumbai for the 2014-15 I-League season.
Rane represented Chennaiyin FC for the 2014 ISL[5]
