Social Work
Prayas - Digital Literacy Campaign
Prayas Youth Forum began in 2008 when Jaydeep Pathare & Nikhil Pathare along with their friends decided to reach out to rural & disadvantaged children. They aimed at creating awareness about computers among the underprivileged. Today, hundreds of students are rallying behind them in their cause. What began as a college initiative has grown into an organization.[6][7][8][9]
Gandhi Vichar Yatra
With an objective to create an awareness of teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, Jaydeep along with his 50 friends set out on a yatra from Ahmednagar to Kopargaon, in Maharashtra on 2 October 2011. The travel route was about 100 km & was covered walking. The 50 Youth involved in this yatra visited villages on this 100 km route to create awareness about teachings of Mahatma Gandhiji by arranging a lecture and interacting with villagers. Also these volunteers engaged themselves in visiting schools, meeting youth & talking to them. This event was dedicated to Joy of giving or daan utsav[10]
eduVarta
Students living in remote areas do not have exposure to the outside educational world, skill development initiatives or employment opportunities. eduVarta was an effort to connect these students to their more privileged counterparts in the cities so that they can seek help and guidance from them in shaping their career. Once they subscribe to EduVARTA, the students also got SMS alerts about college notices and announcements, government decisions, course admissions, trainings, workshops, seminars, scholarships and all the information related to exams and results. [11][12]
Drought Help Group
The Maharashtra state was reeling under drought in 2012. Jaydeep and his mentor Ravi Ghate brought together like-minded people from various fields to form 'Drought Help Group' on Facebook. With the help of the platform, the group managed to build a wide network of 1,000 members across the state and succeeded in providing help to many villagers. The group consisted of village coordinators who started posting photos of the drought-affected areas and donors from the urban areas started providing help in the form of water storage tanks, helping the villagers de-silt the rivers and canals so that the water holding capacity can be increased. Success story of using the social media platform to bring immediate relief service to drought-affected people also impressed Facebook. The group, which has now close to 12,000 members, received the prestigious Manthan Award from Digital Empowerment Foundation, New Delhi in December 2013. [13][14][15]
Urban to Rural Mentorship
He formed a group of professionals from pune to mentor rural students. [16]
Social Peace Force
In mid 2014, some derogatory and anti-national messages/images were circulated on Social Media which resulted into Social Tension and Riots in the state of Maharashtra. Jaydeep Pathare along with his friends & mentor Ravi Ghate came forward to form a Youth Group 'Social Peace Force'to stop Anti-Social Messages. This group was appreciated by the Police and higher authorities as it involved citizens to curb digital nuisance. However some people created a controversy and quoted this as a barrier to freedom of expression. Many national and international journals & news agencies took note of this group.[17][18]
