Jay Freeman (also known as "saurik") is an American businessman and software developer. He is known for creating the Cydia application suite.

Freeman studied Computer Science and graduated from the College of Creative Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara, where he then studied for a PhD.[1] He is a member of the iPhone Dev Team development community (for the iPhone OS).[2]

He created the Cydia software application for Apple's iOS operating system, which runs on phones jailbroken so that they can run applications developed by third parties.


On 10 September 2010, Freeman announced that his company Saurik IT LLC had acquired Rock Your Phone, Inc. (known for their Rock App) to make Cydia the largest application suite for the iOS platform for distributing third-party apps.[3][4]

Tweaks

Freeman has created many Cydia tweaks and packages which include Apple File Conduit 2, Cycorder, Cycript, Cydia Substrate, Cyueue, Five Icon Dock, OpenSSH and WinterBoard.
