Javier Vachon

Javier Vachon (played by Ben Bass) is a fictional character in the Canadian television series Forever Knight, appearing in ten episodes in season 3. Vachon was introduced in the first half of the two-part season premiere, "Black Buddha"; and his backstory was revealed in the second part. Presumably born in Spain, Vachon was originally a conquistador with Pizarro's army in South America. In 1531, he was turned into a vampire near Lake Titicaca in the Andes mountains.

Black Buddha

In the first episode of Season Three, Tracy Vetter is called to the site of a plane crash, where she senses one of the victims is still alive. Everyone tells her she's crazy, but we see this victim's eyes open and watch him scurry off. He is Javier Vachon, and he and Tracy meet again during subsequent episodes and develop a close relationship.

Vachon spent his 500 years partying and avoiding responsibility. He often hangs out with a "carouche" vampire named Screed (a carouche is one who sucks the blood of animals). Screed has a taste for rats. Screed dies during the middle of Season Three from a virus, referred to as "The Fever," which only kills vampires.

Despite Vachon's disdain for responsibility, he tries to mesmerize Tracy into forgetting him, but finds that she is immune to his powers; he unintentionally takes the role of her protector. The "Enforcers" (vampire police) would kill Tracy if it became known that she knows about vampires.

The terrorist who caused the plane explosion is called "Voodoo." We also meet "The Inca," Vachon's vampire 'twin' (they were brought across at the same time by the same master). He and Vachon, though once mortal enemies, join forces to save Tracy (and the city of Toronto) from Voodoo's latest bomb spree. The Inca takes the triggering bomb and flies up into the atmosphere with it (we see the explosion and presume he's dead).

Ashes to Ashes

Toward the end of the series, Divia, an ancient vampire of true evil, attacks Vachon. Her evil begins to fill his mind, and he's tormented by visions of her brutality. He is afraid that he will be consumed by this evil, so he begs Tracy to stake him. She refuses, so he lunges toward her while she holds the stake he gave her and impales himself, dying in her arms.
