Jason Pirozzolo (born November 27, 1976) is an American Sports Medicinephysician, a community leader, a pilot, a professor, and an author.

Early life

Pirozzolo began practice in Orlando, Florida in 2006 with Florida Hospital as the Director of Sports Medicine.[3][4] Later, he joined a private practice with Orlando Hand Surgery Associates as the Director of Sports Medicine and Trauma.[4] He was appointed by Governor Charlie Crist to serve as a board member of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, and elected Vice Chairman of the board.[1][2][5] He serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Florida State University College of Medicine.[6]

Education

Pirozzolo graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. degree Pre-medicine. Following college, he enrolled in Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine where he graduated in 2002. During school, he completed externships in Dermatology and emergency medicine at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. He later finished his internship and residency (medicine) at Duke University with a fellowship in sports medicine at Ohio State University. He obtained dual board certifications in both family medicine and Sports Medicine. He was credentialed as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Pirozzolo has also been granted privileges to fly single and multi-engine aircraft by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) since 2005.[7]

Career

Pirozzolo began practice in 2006 as the Director of Sports Medicine for Florida Hospital's urgent care facilities.[3] In 2011 he joined forces with Orlando Hand Surgery Associates as their Director of Sports Medicine and Trauma in downtown Orlando, Florida.[4] Pirozzolo is also an active member of the Florida Medical Association and serves on their Council on Legislation Board.[8] Pirozzolo has been a volunteer at Shepherd's Hope free clinic since 2010.

In 2010 Pirozzolo was appointed as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Florida State University College of Medicine.[9]

In 2010, Pirozzolo was appointed by Governor Charlie Crist to sit on the governing board of the Orlando International Airport, called the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.[10][11][12] He served on the Orlando executive advisory committee and the economic development advisory committee. In 2012, he was elected unanimously to serve as the Vice Chairman of the board.[13] During his tenure he has committed his effort into raising awareness of the economic development opportunities [14] that exist in the Central Florida area and the airport.[15]
