Jasmine Choi (born in 1983 in South Korea) is a flutist. She was born in Seoul but was raised in Daejon.

She graduated from Curtis Institute of Music, and was trained under Julius Baker and Jeffrey Khaner. As a student in 2002, she was the senior division winner of the Albert M. Greenfield Student Competition, sponsored by the Philadelphia Orchestra.[1] In 2006, Symphony Magazine included her as one of two flautists in their list of emerging artists.[2]

A recording of her performances of Mozart's Concerto for Flute and Harp K. 299 and the Concerto for Flute K. 314 (called Jasmine Choi plays Mozart) was released in 2006 in Korea by Sony BMG.[3] She was a member of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra[4] and has played on tour in Korea, Austria,[5] and the Czech Republic.

She was the Principal Flute of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra from May 2012 to August 2013, and was subsequently voted out by the players of the symphony.[6] During her time in the orchestra, she stated how she was discriminated because of her race and gender. [7]

One reviewer called her "a major talent with a robust tone".[8] As well as classical and modern flute compositions, her concert repertoire includes compositions for violin transcribed to the flute.[9]

She released a recording of the jazz works of Claude Bolling in October 2012 (a Sony Classical recording). In October 2013, she released a recording, with members of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, of the flute quartets of Mozart (a Sony Classical recording). And in February 2015, she released a recording entitled The Telemann Files, which contains the 12 Fantasies for Solo Flute by Georg Philipp Telemann (an Austrian Gramophone recording).

Jasmine Choi currently plays a 14k-gold flute, handmade by David Straubinger.
