"Jasmine" (alternatively titled "Jasmine Breeze") is a rock song by Miles Gilderdale featured in Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse, released on the iTunes Store on 5 December 2013. In the game, "Jasmine" is a 1970s song by a fictional band named The Hairy Lobsters.

Description

"Jasmine" was recorded by Miles Gilderdale of the English smooth jazz group Acoustic Alchemy, who previously worked on three tracks off the Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars – Director's Cut soundtrack, for Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse.[1][2] It was released on 5 December 2013, a day after Broken Sword 5 – Episode 1, on the iTunes Store through Sugarstar Limited, bundled with "Strange Girl" (another Gilderdale song from the upcoming second episode).[3] The song has been categorized as a "stoner rock song"[4] and a "psychedelic rock song"[5] by reviewers.

In Broken Sword 5, "Jasmine" (once referred to as "Jasmine Breeze") is a 1970s rock song by a fictional band named The Hairy Lobsters, fronted by Henri, a character who is killed in the beginning of the game. On certain locations, it is used as background music or as part of a puzzle.[6]

Reception

"Jasmine" has garnered positive reactions from critics. Adventure Gamers' Shuva Raha said the song is "cheerful and addictive, and brings some much-needed gaiety to the otherwise grave proceedings [in the game]".[5] Geoff Thew of Hardcore Gamer called the track "a decently catchy stoner rock song".[4]
