Janowo [jaˈnɔvɔ] (German: Johannisthal) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Karnice, within Gryfice County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland.[1] It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) west of Karnice, 20 km (12 mi) north-west of Gryfice, and 74 km (46 mi) north of the regional capital Szczecin.
Before 1945 the area was part of Germany. Following World War II the native German populace was expelled and replaced by Poles. For the history of the region, see History of Pomerania.
