Jannik Olander is a Danish jewelry designer and entrepreneur.[3] He is the founder of Nialaya Jewelry.[4]

Career

Olander’s career started with Ralph Lauren Polo. He was one of the youngest managers ever for Ralph Lauren and purchased 11 of the stores. He later sold the stores and launched his own company by the name of Gorilla T-Shirts. The t-shirts contained “so called” statements which were controversial in numerous countries. The shirts became some of Northern Europe’s best selling and were sold in 1,000 stores in 14 different countries.[5] Olander sold that company just prior to coming to the United States in 2008.[6]

Olander moved from Denmark to Los Angeles, California in 2008 with the idea to publish magazines.

Olander is the founder of Nialaya Jewelry, a luxury bead bracelet and necklace boutique named after a Shaman he met in India in 2009.[2] Olander has attributed his inspiration for the jewelry to this Shaman.[7] He began making bracelets and necklaces out of his home in Hollywood, California.[1] He took his first order of beaded bracelets to a Beverly Hills boutique during Christmas season and nearly sold out.[8] He quickly expanded with sales globally,[1] shipping orders from his home studio to high end boutiques such as Traffic, Kitson, and the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills.[8] He opened his first Nialaya store in Los Angeles, California in 2011.[1] The brand has a charity collection that donates 50 percent of proceeds to an orphanage in Thailand.[9] Olander was featured as a "modern man" in 2012 by Modern Luxury Angelo Man magazine.[10]

Media appearances

Olander had a leading role on the Bravo reality television show, Euros of Hollywood, which aired in late 2014.[11]

Personal Life

Olander was born in Denmark and grew up in the country side. His mother owns a ceramic shop and his father is an engineer. He has three younger brothers.
