Jannali railway station is located on the Sydney Trains Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line in the southern Sydney suburb of Jannali. It consists of two side platforms with street access on both sides. The platforms are connected by a road bridge at the southern end of the platform. The entrances to platform 1 and platform 2 are 200 metres (660 ft) apart by the shortest walkable route across the road bridge.
History
Jannali Railway Station commenced construction in July 1930[1] and was officially opened on 7 February 1931[2] due to increased residential development in the area. The development was requested and largely funded by Sutherland Shire Council. The bridge over the railway at Jannali was constructed at the same time as the station.
Upgrades
An upgrade commenced late 2012 and was completed in April 2013. Improvements included redesigning and rebuilding the ramp on the western side of the station and upgrading the footpath on the eastern side of the station.[3][4]
Platforms and services
On weekdays, the station is serviced by four trains per hour in each direction for most of the day, with additional trains provided during peak hours. On weekends, the station is serviced by four trains per hour in each direction for most of the day. Except during peak hours, Waterfall services no longer stop at the station, so passengers must change at Sutherland for services to Waterfall.
