Jane Wenham-Jones is an author, journalist, presenter, interviewer, creative writing tutor, writing competition judge, and speaker who lives in Broadstairs, Kent, a town that appears in two of her novels. She is a columnist for the Isle of Thanet Gazette, Woman's Weekly Fiction Special and Writing Magazine.

Career

Jane began her writing career in 1995 and has published novels, short stories, non-fiction articles and two Wannabe writing guides, in which, in "Wannabe a Writer", she coined the phrase 'Writer's Bottom'.

More than a hundred short stories have been published in magazines across the world including Active Life, Bella, Best, Candis, Chat, More, My Weekly, The People's Friend, Pulp Fiction, Take a Break, Take a Break Fiction Feast, Woman, Woman's Weekly, Woman's Realm, and Your Cat. A selection of these stories have been reprinted in Australia, Norway, South Africa, Sweden, and The US.

Her short stories have also appeared in fiction anthologies including Café Olé Too Hot To Handle, Diamonds and Pearls, Loves Me, Loves Me Not, and the Sexy Shorts Charity Series.

Non-fiction contributions include The Help for Heroes Cookbook, Tweet Treats, Women Leading, and The You Are What You Eat Cookbook.

Jane has regular columns in Woman's Weekly Fiction Special, Writing Magazine,[1] and her local paper, The Isle of Thanet Gazette.[2][3] She has written, or contributed to, articles in The Bookseller,[4] The Daily Express,[5] Family Circle, The Guardian,[6][7][8][9] My Weekly, The New Writer, Psychologies, Scarlet Magazine, She, The Sun, Sunday Express,[10] The Sunday Times,[11] The Times,[12] Woman, Woman's Own, Woman's Weekly, Writing.ie[13] and The Weekender.[14][15]

Jane is a member of Equity has presented for both BBC Radio Kent and the BBC's Politics Show.[16] Other television appearances have included The Heaven and Earth Show, Inside Out,[17] Just for Starters, Kilroy, Legal TV, Loose Lips, The Property Channel, Ready, Steady, Cook, The Russell Grant Show, The Salon, and The Wright Stuff.

She is a regular presenter / interviewer / panellist at various venues including the Guildford Book Festival[18][19][20][21] and Chipping Norton Literature Festival,[22] with celebrities including Amanda Ross, Anne Cleeves, Bel Mooney, David Nobbs, Fern Britton, Fiona Walker, Gill Hornby, Helen Lederer, India Knight, Irma Kurtz, Jenny Eclair, Jill Mansell, Judy Finnigan, Julian Clary, Kate Mosse, Katie Fforde, Kay Burley, Lucy Mangan, Lynn Barber, Mavis Cheek, Penny Vincenzi, Peter James, Rachel Allen, Richard Madeley, Steve Furst, Tania Carver, Tim Bentinck, Tim Dowling, Veronica Henry, and Victoria Hislop.

Jane was an interviewee Sue Cook for The Write Lines in conjunction with Talking Bookshelf[23] and National Short Story Week.[24]

As a professional speaker, Jane gives lectures and after-dinner talks including Women Speakers.[25] She has hosted the award ceremony for the Romantic Novelists' Association's Romantic Novel of the Year Award 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014,[26] together with actor Tim Bentinck (2011), crime novelist Peter James.[27][28] (2012) and Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan (2013), and Darcey Bussell (2014).

She is also a competition judge for writing competitions including Flash 500[29] and is listed on Fantastic Fiction,[30] Dorothy Koomson's[31] and Random House websites.[32]
