Jane Buchan is the Chief Executive Officer of PAAMCO. PAAMCO is a global investment management firm based in Irvine, California with ~$9 billion in assets under management and ~130 employees worldwide.[1]

Early life and education

Buchan was born in Seattle, Washington but grew up in Portland, Oregon where her parents were professors of medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. She graduated from Yale College in 1986 and tried out for the 1988 Olympics.[1] Buchan later earned MA and PhD degrees from Harvard University.[2]

Professional career

After Yale, Buchan started her investment career at JPMorgan Chase in the Investment Management's Capital Markets Group in New York as a quantitative fixed income analyst.[1] In 2000, Buchan started PAAMCO with three co-founders.[3] Buchan received the "100 Women in Hedge Funds 2014 North American Industry Leadership Award",[3] and was named one of "50 Women in Hedge Funds" by The Hedge Fund Journal and Ernst & Young in 2013, 2010 and 2009.[4] On November 12, 2014, Buchan was presented with the 2014 North American Industry Leadership Award by the 100 Women in Hedge Funds Organization.[5]

Community Involvement

Jane Buchan is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Alternative Investments and serves as Director and Chair of the Board for the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA).[6] She serves as a Director and Chair of Governance and Nominating for the Torchmark Corporation (TMK).[7] She has recently been named to the Hedge Fund Standards Board.[1] Buchan Pledged $1 Million for Reed College in Portland, Oregon.[8] Jane Buchan is a 100 WHF Charter Angel to recognize the support she provided in the formation and funding of the 100 Women in Hedge Funds Association and Foundation.[9]

Personal life

Buchan is married to track and field coach Jim Driscoll. Driscoll won a Gold Medal in the hammer throw for the United States at the 1991 Pan American Games. They live in Corona del Mar, California.[1]
