Jand Tehsil is one of the six tehsils (subdivisions) of Attock District in the Punjab province of Pakistan.

Administration

The tehsil is administratively subdivided into 12 Union Councils, these are:[1]

Village of Khunda, Punjab

Khunda is one of the prominent villages in Attock District, located 70 km north of Islamabad (Pakistan’s capital) on the Fatehjang –Kohat Road. Almost everyone in this village speaks their native Punjabi and majority of households are dependent on agriculture with wheat and peanuts as major crops. The village is famous for its political representation in the National and Provincial politics throughout Pakistan’s history. The prominent names include Malik Allahyar Khan who was elected MNA in 2001 elections and later became the Chairman of the PAC, Sardar Sarfraz an Ex-member of National and Provincial Assemblies and Malik Atta Muhammad who served as the Chairman of District Council.

Malik Allahyar Khan donated land for construction of high schools for boys and girls, as well as a basic health unit, and a veterinary clinic. The village has electricity and water supply scheme and most of the roads are concreted. It has a fiber link with the outside world. Khunda also is a market town with the surrounding villages.

Village of Thatta

Thatta has been one of the most important villages of the District. It is believed to have been founded by Sher Shah Suri, while some believe that it was founded much earlier, in the time of Alexander's invasion.

UC CHHAB UC Chhab is an Union Council of Thesil Jand, located at the distance of 35 Km in south,the area publicly known as Narra, the famous villages of UC CHHAB are CHHAB, Lakkarmar, Kanjoor, Mian Dhaki, Toriwali, Dakhner, Adhowali, Alamabad, Nandrakabad,Jabi,Malangi, Tora bera, Mochi keri. The majority of population are from Saghri Khattak (a sub clain of Khattak)among minor population of Awan, Qureshi, Araien. The majority of the locals are serving in Pakistan Defence Forces traditionally.The area is not well-developed due to lake of concentration of the government, lake of local resources.
