James "Jamie" Rickers (born 21 May 1974, Chelmsford, Essex) is an English television presenter, best known as the co-presenter and co-creator of GMTV's Toonattik alongside Anna Williamson. The programmes were produced by GMTV and broadcast as live on ITV1, ITV4 and the CITV channel. He is currently presenting on Nickelodeon, alongside Williamson.

Early life

Jamie was born in Chelmsford, Essex, and grew up in Burnham-on-Crouch. He attended St Peter's High School in Burnham.

Leaving school aged 16, Rickers joined the Colchester Institute School of Music and Drama, studying for his Music Foundation A-level. He gained a BA Honours Music degree in 1993.

Jamie has two sons with his partner.

TV career

Rickers' first job in broadcasting was working as a programme runner for LWT. He also worked as researcher and celebrity booker on Michael Barrymore's My Kind of Music, Kids Say the Funniest Things, An Audience with The Bee Gees and An Audience with The Spice Girls. He also worked on LWT's Caught Red Handed, with Andi Peters on Andi Meets Britney, the CITV Awards and The Richard Blackwood Show.

In 2000, Rickers presented Water Warriors for Carlton Television, which won an RTS Award for 'Best Entertainment Show'. Rickers also co-hosts CITV's Prove It!, alongside Joe Challands.

In 2000, Rickers joined GMTV. He co-produced, conceptualized and presented GMTV's Sunday kids' show Up on the Roof until February 2005 when Toonattik was launched, with Rickers as co-host on Saturday and Sunday mornings. On 6 March 2010, it was announced GMTV Kids presenters Jamie Rickers and Anna Williamson would be made redundant following ITV plc taking full control of GMTV, their last broadcast aired on 9 May 2010.[1]

Jamie Rickers presented 'Jamie and Anna's U-Pick Summer' for Nickelodeon in August 2010 which was shown every weekday 12pm - 2pm and 5pm - 7pm.

Currently he is presenting Anubis Unlocked, on the same channel.

In 2011, Rickers announced that he would launch an audacious bid to set the Guinness World Record for conducting the most television interviews in 24 hours. The television presenter is hoping to interview 50 celebrities in order to raise money for children's charity Unicef.

Rickers is appealing to members of the public to support him with sponsorship as well as tip-offs about where celebrities might be. His challenge is due to start in early 2012 and will finish with an appearance on ITV1's Daybreak with Adrian Chiles and Kate Garraway.
