Jamia Tawakkulia Renga Madrasah is located in Mogla Bazar,[2] about 13 km south of district Sylhet, Bangladesh. It is one of the largest Islamic institutions in Bangladesh and the biggest in Greater Sylhet district.[3] It was founded in 1919 by maulana Arkan Ali; later ran by his son khalifa Madani Allamah Badrul Alam (Sheikh-e-Renga), a graduate of Darul Uloom Deoband and disciple of Husain Ahmed Madani. The present principal is hazrat maulana Shamsul Islam Khalil, an alumnus of Darul Uloom Karachi and the vice-principal is hazrat maulana Muhiul Islam Burhan.

The Sheikh-Ul-Hadiths are hazratul Allamah Qamar Uddin Sahib and Allamah Shihab Uddin Sahib.

The Jamia provides primary, secondary, as well as higher Islamic education and has been serving the needs of people both locally and nationally.[4][5][6] Currently more than 1900 students are enrolled in Nazara, Hifz and Alim classes. Furthermore, in academic year 2008–2009 the Jamia has produced 100 Ulamas and 50 Huffaz.

The madrasah is mainly financed by donations and it maintains five funds. They are general fund, poor-orphan fund, building fund, books fund and scholarships fund.

The general fund is used to pay the salary of teachers and other staff. The building fund is used to finance new constructions. The money from the poor-orphan fund is used to pay for accommodation and treatment of poverty-stricken students. The book fund is to buy literature for the needy students and the scholarships fund is used to reward meritorious students. [7]
