James Veitch, Lord Elliock

James Veitch, Lord Elliock FRSE (1712–1793) was a Scottish advocate, judge, politician and landowner.

Born in Edinburgh on 25 September 1712, the son of William Veitch of Elliock WS (died 1747), he was educated at Edinburgh University, Leyden University and Halle University. He was elected to the Faculty of Advocates in 1738.

He was appointed a sheriff in 1747, at Peebles. He served as MP for Dumfriesshire (1755–60), as a Senator of the College of Justice (1761–93), as Commissioner for Forfeited Estates (1769), as Deputy Governor of the Royal Bank of Scotland (1776-), and as a member of the Board of Trustees for Manufactures & Fisheries (1777-).

He died at St Andrew Square, Edinburgh, on 1 July 1793.
