James Spence (surgeon)

James Spence (1812-1882) was a Scottish surgeon.

He trained at the University of Edinburgh Medical School. In 1864, he became Edinburgh chair of systematic surgery.[1]

He published Lectures on Surgery in 1871.

The Tail of Spence is named after him.[2]
