James Pearson (born 19 January 1993) is an English footballer who plays as a defender for Leicester City, being deployed either as a centre back or a right back.[2] He is part of Leicester City's development squad.
Career
Early career
Pearson's youth career began at Rotherham United but was released in the summer of 2009.[3]
Leicester City
In September 2012, Pearson joined Football League Championship side Leicester City, who are managed by his father Nigel,[4] the season before they returned to the Premier League after a ten-year absence.
Carlisle United (loan)
On 11 March 2014, James joined Carlisle United on loan for the rest of the season, along with Watford's Reece Brown.[2] On 13 March, Pearson made his football league debut, playing the full 90 minutes in a defeat against Sheffield United.[5] He went on to represent Carlisle in a draw against Stevenage and a loss to Notts County,[6] before returning to Leicester.
Return to Leicester
On 2 June, Pearson extended his contract by a further year.[7] On August 26, Pearson made his Leicester City debut, along with Ryan Watson and Michael Cain in the 0–1 Football League Cup defeat to Shrewsbury Town.
Wrexham (loan)
On October 27 Pearson joined Conference Premier side Wrexham on a month-long loan.[8]
Personal life
Pearson is the son of former Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough defender Nigel Pearson, who now manages Leicester City. James still resides in Sheffield where he was born whilst his father was playing for Sheffield Wednesday. He attended Westbourne School in Sheffield, and Hartpury College in Gloucestershire.[3]
