James M Houston

James ‘Jim’ M Houston (born November 21, 1922[1]) is Professor of Spiritual Theology at Regent College, Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Dr. Houston emigrated with his wife and 4 children to North America in 1969, and became one of the founders of Regent College, a leading institution of Christian theology and spirituality. From 1970–78, he was Principal of the college, and in 1991 he was appointed to the chair. His major areas of interest include the Christian mind, the Trinity, prayer, and the traditions of Christian spirituality. He has published numerous articles in books and scholarly journals.

Dr. Houston currently resides in Vancouver. In addition to his continuation of writing, Dr. Houston spends a great deal of time mentoring students. Dr. Houston has 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
