James Laurie

James Laurie (1811–1875) was a prominent American engineer and one of the founders of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).[1] He never married and died in Hartford, Connecticut on March 16, 1875. The James Laurie Prize was established by ASCE in 1912 and is awarded annually to "the person who contributes most to the advancement of transportation engineering, including research, planning, design, and construction." [1]
