James Baird (born 25 May 1983) is a Scottish football goalkeeper who has been playing professionally for several years. After moving between a number of Scottish clubs, including Alloa Athletic,[1] Faroese clubs and Trinidad and Tobago Professional Football League club Tobago United.[2] He currently Plays for Galveston Pirate SC and is Technical Director of The West Indies Football Association.

Club career

From early Baird attracted a lot of interest as a youth player and at one point was training with; Hearts, Hibernian, Livingston, Dunfermline,Dundee united but initially chose Hearts to start off with after spending many years working with Hearts legendary goalkeeper Henry Smith . Baird made his professional debut at the age of 15 against Airdrieonians FC in an SFL reserve match for Alloa Athletic at recreation park.

Baird's career took him to several different countries playing in England, Scotland,Faeroe Islands,Trinidad and Tobago and now Texas USA.[3]

James also had brief spells at Blackpool, Gretna,Dundee United,Joe Public and Dumferline Athletic.

It was once said James Turned down moving to Celtic FC as a younger player due to being an avid Rangers Supporter.

International career

Baird made four appearances for Scotland U17 in 2001 and 2002. He also trained with the British Virgin Islands national football team and played for the under 23's in a small local tournament but after eligibility problems, decided against representing the senior side.[4] James is also the Technical Director and goalkeeper for the West Indies Football Association. [5]

Personal life

James now Resides in Trinidad with his wife and family and has just welcomed the arrival of his son Broden Santiago Baird. Baird was a member of the Global United charity team, which plays matches all over the world to bring awareness to global warming, in 2009 they had matches in Germany and participated in a tour during the 2010 world cup.[6] He also owns and runs his own football team and academy called Trinidad and Tobago Highlanders.[7]

James also does Media work with Local Trinidad and Tobago station WI Sports and commentates on local football matches. During the 2014 World cup James was the TV 6 Morning Edition expert and regularly gave his thoughts on many of the matches .

In 2015 James signed up with The Brazil Link agency and also has his own Goalkeeping brand coming out called THG.
