Jama Software is a computer software company headquartered in Portland, Oregon and is the developer of the Jama Product Delivery Platform, a collaborative web-based application designed to help companies manage projects that relate to the development and introduction of products.[2] The company was founded in 2007 and is privately owned.[3]
Company history
Jama Software was founded in 2007 by Eric Winquist, Sean Tong, and Derwyn Harris. Winquist got the idea for Jama while running a previous company[4] Based on his experience, one of the critical areas within the world of project management that was a major source of frustration and failure was requirements management.
In 2008, Jama won a $110,000 investment prize at the Bend Venture Conference.[5] A few weeks later Jama closed a $1 million investment from the Oregon Angel Fund.[4]
In December 2010, ReadWriteWeb named Jama as one of the top 5 enterprise startups to watch in 2011.[6]
Listed as #84 in 2012[7] and #52 in 2011[8] on Forbes' list of America's Most Promising Companies.[9]
In May 2013, Jama was featured along with 10 other Portland-based start ups in a collaboration video called "TechTown Portland" in order to attract talent.[10]
In August 2013, Jama Software raised $13 Million in its first venture capitalist round lead by investors Trinity Ventures, with participation from Madrona Venture Group.[11]
Customers
Jama has over 600 customers[12] including SpaceX, Northrop Grumman, Texas Instruments,[13] The U.S. Department of Defense, Time Warner, GE, UnitedHealthcare and Amazon.com.[14]
