Jam Sahib
Jam Sahib is the title of the ruling prince of Nawanagar, now known as Jamnagar, an Indian princely state. The Jam Sahibs were from the Jam Jadeja clan,[1] who are a branch of Samma Rajput. The name of Jamnagar was derived from the same root, while the word Ja'am itself means Sardar, Nawab or King, Sahib is an Arabic term which literally translates to "Owner" or "Proprieter".
The title Jam Sahib was also used by Jadeja rulers of Cutch State, which later switched to title of Rao and Maharao, during British Raj. Further, Jam Raval assumed the title of 1st Jam Sahib of Nawanagar, in 1540, when he founded the new State of Nawanagar, moving out of Cutch.
The title Jam sahib is also used by the ruler of the State of Las Bela in Balochistan, whose origins are in Samma rajputs.
