Jalalabad Cantonment Public School and College[2] is an educational institute in Sylhet, Bangladesh.[3]

History

Established in 1999, the institution is regulated by the Bangladesh Army and approved by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Sylhet.[4] It offers higher secondary subjects including science, commerce and arts programmes.

The institute was awarded "Best Institution" on 18 January 2004 by the president of Bangladesh.[5] Facilities include a 1,000-seat auditorium and a 100-place hostel.

The principal is usually a lieutenant colonel of the Army Education Corps of Bangladesh Army. If an officer is not found who is a lieutenant colonel then a civilian is employed as the principal. The principal is the Member Secretary of the Governing Body.[6]

The prolocutor of the Governing Body is the station commander of Jalalabad Cantonment. The prolocutor is a brigadier general of the Bangladesh Army.[6]

School

The school section gives the opportunity of studying from classes 1-10. Classes 9 and 10 can study science, business studies and arts programmes. In classes 6-10, an English version is available as well as Bangla.

JCPSC started the college section in 1999, initially with only a science program. Arts and Business Studies programmes were later added.

Rover Scout

JCPSC has a regular Rover Scout Unit. It takes part all activities of Rover Scout Sylhet area. The unit is led by Assistant Professor Mohammed Laheen Uddin, who is a trained unit leader.
