Background
Royal Prussian Jagdstaffel 85, commonly abbreviated to Jasta 85, was a World War I "hunting group" (i.e., fighter squadron) of the Luftstreitkräfte, forerunner to the Luftwaffe.[1]
History
Jasta 85 was founded on 28 or 29 October 1918. Its predecessor was Kampfeinsitzerstaffel (scout detachment) Kest 5. The new squadron never became operational.[1]
