Jackson Kelly or KE is a lighter version of Gibson Explorer produced by Jackson Guitars.

History

It was designed by and named after Bradford Kelly, guitarist for Australian heavy metal band Heaven in the early '80s.[1] It was later more popularized by Megadeth's ex-guitarist Marty Friedman who had his own signature model at the time; "The KE1" and is the trademark guitar for Bernd Kost of Sodom who used a customized version of a regular "Kelly Std." as his main instrument for many years, which was later auctioned for charity purposes.

Kelly features a Solid body. Today, it's available in many models, some including a Floyd Rose bridge and some with a "string-through-body system".[2]

Kelly also comes with Jackson stock pickups in JS series, EMG pickups in the X series and with Seymour-Duncan humbucker pickups in Japanese and USA series.[3]
