Jack Combs (born January 26, 1988) is an American professional ice hockey forward who currently plays for the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL.

Playing career

Prior to turning professional, Combs played five seasons of major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League. Combs attended the Colorado Avalanche training camp in 2009 before he was released and signed with the Alaska Aces for his first professional season in 2009–10. In his second season, Combs remained in the Avalanche sights and signed with secondary affiliate, the Tulsa Oilers in the Central Hockey League. Establishing a formidable partnership alongside linemate Chad Costello, Combs finished amongst the top point getters in the CHL.

On August 18, 2011, Combs was signed, along with Costello, to a one-year contract with the Colorado Eagles in the ECHL.[1] After combining with Costello to lead the league in scoring after 23 games with 37 points in the 2011–12 season, Combs was signed to an AHL contract and split the campaign between the Eagles and the Worcester Sharks in the American Hockey League.[2]

Combs returned to the Eagles the following season and repeated his success scoring 42 points in just 27 games. His partnership with Costello was signified when they were both signed to try-out contracts with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on December 18, 2012. With the conclusion of the NHL lockout inducing significant roster movement, Combs was signed again alongside Costello, to an AHL deal with the Sound Tigers for the remainder of the season on January 9, 2013.[3] Combs played in 22 games with the Sound Tigers for 14 points before he was traded to the San Antonio Rampage in exhcange for future considerations on March 14, 2013.[4]

On January 17, 2013, Combs, along with Steve Pinizzotto, was traded to the Edmonton Oilers AHL affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons in exchange for Ryan Martindale and Derek Nesbitt.

Combs left North America at season's end as a free agent and signed a one-year deal with Russian club, Toros Neftekamsk of the Supreme Hockey League (VHL) on August 1, 2014.[5] After only 11 games into the 2014–15 season, Combs opted to leave Toros in a return to North America. On October 21, 2014, Combs signed a contract to re-unite with Chad Costello with the Allen Americans of the ECHL.[6] However, on January 13, 2015, the Swedish club IF Björklöven announced the signing of Combs for the rest of the season.[7] Due to desire of more ice time than Björklöven could offer, the team released Combs before the ECHL's transfer deadline day, playing only three games.[8] On February 15, 2015 he was claimed off waivers from Allen by Stockton Thunder.[9]
