The JWP Junior and Princess of Pro-Wrestling (POP) Championships are a unified professional wrestling championship owned by the JWP Joshi Puroresu promotion. The JWP Junior Championship was introduced on June 16, 1995, when Candy Okutsu defeated Hiromi Sugou and Hiromi Yagi in a three-way match to become the inaugural champion.[2] On June 24, 2006, the JDStar promotion crowned its first Princess of Pro-Wrestling Champion, when Fuka defeated Natsuki☆Head in the finals of a tournament to become the inaugural champion.[3] On June 17, 2007, JWP's Arisa Nakajima unified the two titles on JDStar's second to last event and they have remained together ever since.[4] The JWP Junior Championship was originally meant for wrestlers with less than four years of experience in professional wrestling, but in June 2010, the limit was raised to five years.[5] In May 2012, the experience limit was lowered back down to four years.[6] The title has been vacated eight times; four times due to the reigning champion surpassing the experience limit.[2]

Like most professional wrestling championships, the title is won as a result of a scripted match. There have been twenty-seven JWP Junior Championship reigns shared among twenty-three different wrestlers. Nine wrestlers have held only the JWP Junior Championship, while two wrestlers have held only the POP Championship. Rina Yamashita is the current champion in her first reign.[1]

Reigns

Candy Okutsu was the first champion in the title's history.[2] She also shares the record for most reigns with Arisa Nakajima, Hiromi Yagi and Rabbit Miu, with two.[2] Kaori Yoneyama only reign holds the record for the longest reign, at 771 days,[2] while Okutsu's second reign holds the record for the shortest reign at less than one day.[2] Overall, there have been thirty reigns shared among twenty-five different wrestlers. Nine wrestlers have held only the JWP Junior Championship, while two wrestlers have held only the POP Championship. Rina Yamashita is the current champion in her first reign.[1]
