The JD Institute of Fashion Technology is a private college of business, design, and technology affiliated with Kuvempu University and having learning centers in all major cities of India. It was founded 12 October 1988 in Mumbai as an educational division of JD Image Promotion Limited and accredited the same year. In 2012 was ranked 10th in a study about Fashion Technology Institutes from India realized by India Today and Nielsen Company.[1]

Academics

The institute is offering two Bachelor of Science degrees (Interior Design and Fashion Design), two Master of Science degrees (Textile Technology and Fashion Communication) and six Diploma of arts degrees (Fashion Photography, Fashion Business Management, Visual Merchandising, Jewelry Design, Interior Design and Fashion Design). For admission, a candidate must have successfully completed a 10+2 examination from a board of education recognized in India. For the diploma of art degrees the admission is subject to the availability of seats and a candidate can apply for admission and can block a seat by paying the registration fee. For admission at B.Sc and M.sc degrees the candidates must pass a test conducted by the institute.[2][3]

Learning centers

The institute has 29 learning centers located in all major cities of India and a new opened learning center in London, United Kingdom.[4] In the facilitates offered by the learning centers to the students are included a comprehensive library with books, magazines, journals and other literature from the fashion world and also access to the world’s fashion news and research portal wgsn.com(Worth Global Style Network); fully equipped laboratories; hostels for students, a Wi-Fi network inside the learning center, design workshops and exhibition galleries. In the facilities category offered by the institute are include also a series of extracurricular activities (theme base fashion, dance challenges, industrial tours, exhibitions, conferences, excursions and internships) with the help of the partnerships which the institute has with organization from Indian fashion industry and from alumni who are working the fashion industry.[5]

Tradition

The graduation day – called JD Annual Design Awards - INSIDE which is a theme fashion show were the final year students are showcasing their creations.[6][7][8]

Freshman Year Party – is a theme event were the freshman’s are welcomed in the ranks of the students of the institute.[9]
