Jüri Tarmak (born 21 July 1946[1]) is a former Estonian athlete who competed mainly in the high jump and competed for the Soviet Union. He trained at Dynamo in Leningrad[2] and studied at the Leningrad State University.[1]
Tarmak was born in Tallinn. He began athletics in 1963 and became a member of the USSR National Team in 1970.[1] He competed for the USSR in the 1972 Summer Olympics held in Munich, Germany in the high jump where he won the gold medal. He also won a silver medal behind István Major of Hungary at the 1971 European Championships, and a bronze medal behind István Major and his teammate Kęstutis Šapka at the 1972 European Championships.
Tarmak was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor (1972).[2]
