Jøsenfjorden

Jøsenfjorden.

Jøsenfjorden is a fjord in the municipality of Hjelmeland in Rogaland county, Norway. The fjord is a branch of Boknafjorden and has a length of 24 kilometres and a width between one and two kilometres.[1] The river Førre mouths into the sea at Førrebotn, at the bottom of the fjord. The river Ulla mouths into the fjord from the northern side, and the river Vormo mouths from the southern side of the fjord.

The geology of Jøsenfjorden was thoroughly investigated and described by Professor Bjørn G. Andersen in his Master's thesis (1954) ”Om isens tilbaketrekking i området mellom Lysefjorden og Jøsenfjorden i Ryfylke” (On the glacial retreat in the area between the Lysefjorden and Jøsenfjorden in Ryfylke).[2]
