Jørpeland


Jørpeland is a city in the municipality of Strand in the county of Rogaland, Norway. Jørpeland is located just northeast of the city of Stavanger on the center region of Rogaland. The city has a population of 6,282 as of 1 January 2012. Jørpeland became a city by the municipal on 1 April 1998. Jørpeland is also known as "Puplit Rock City", due to the fact that Jørpeland is the representant of Preikestolen, which attracts tourists worldwide.

Attractions

Jørpelands Brug is a building from 1883, which is located in Vågen, Jørpeland. Jørpeland also has tourist information, liquor store, a cultural center (Torghuset), a harbor in Vågen with boardwalk, various restaurants and grocery stores. Jørpeland also has a golf course just outside of the city, as well some campsites.

The city has also some good beaches for bathing and sport activities. Most notably are Barkavika and Nordlys. Barkavika has its own two Volleyball courts, while Nordlys has a playground right next to the beach.

Jørpeland has an annual tradition festival, called Strandadagene, arranged first weekend of June.
