Jérémie Michel Napoléon Carboni is a French director, screenwriter, actor and was a political communication advisor.^[1] He was born on December 28, 1980, in Châtenay-Malabry, France. He is the President of Compagnie M.I.A., a theatre company.^[2]

Early life

He lived in France, Greece, Hungary and also in Italy for six years where he attended le Lycée français Chateaubriand (Rome) before entering at the National Fine Arts Academy. He graduated in cinema filmmaking and he also studied Political sciences for a while.^[3] He was assistant of Michelangelo Antonioni's producers : Stéphane Tchalgadjieff and Danièle Gégauff.^[4]

Career

He began as a music videos director especially for Italian singer Dominique Fidanza from French and Italian television shows Star Academy 6 and Popstars.^[5] In 2009 he directed Bartleby en coulisses starring famous French writer Daniel Pennac. The film's premiere was screened at Boulogne-sur-Mer literary festival Boulevard Sainte-Beuve.^[6]

Between 2010 and 2012, he shot a documentary : a story of electronic music (to celebrate the 100th anniversary) starring Jean Michel Jarre, Émilie Simon, Moriarty (band), Teho Teardo, François Bayle, Christian Zanési, Michel Chion, etc.^[7] The film has been selected by the prestigious film festival MusiquePointDoc and screened in Paris, on June 19, 2013 at La Gaîté Lyrique.^[8]

In 2013, he became President of the Compagnie M.I.A., a theatre company created under the impetus of famous French writer Daniel Pennac, director Clara Bauer and French actor Laurent Natrella (member of the Comédie-Française).^[9]

In 2014, he shot a film on French stylists Marithé François Girbaud, inventors of Stonewash, Wattwash, denims stretch, baggy jeans, etc.

Trivia

His grandparents, Jacques et Antoinette Rozenker, were stylists and fashion production managers for French artists in the 60’s and 70’s : Sylvie Vartan, Julien Clerc, Johnny Hallyday, etc. They launched in particular, French stylists Marithé François Girbaud.
His father is a French high-ranking civil servant (former CFO and deputy manager at Gaz de France and actually head of the GDF Suez's IT Services department) and his mother a former pianist.^[13]
Friend of French writer Michel Déon known as a former member of literary movement named Les Hussards. Déon is part of the Académie française.^[14]
