Ivyrise are a British rock band from Portsmouth, England, consisting of lead vocalist, songwriter and pianist Ben Falinski, lead guitarist Dan Tanner, drummer Josh Thaxton-Key and bass guitarist Mark Nagle.

Career

Ivyrise was formed in 2007 by Ben Falinski and began touring the UK with Kula Shaker before working with producer Paul Simm to record "Tips" and the first studio version of "Disguise". Since then, Ivyrise has worked with alternative rock producer Alan Moulder, famed for his work with The Killers, Nine Inch Nails and Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins, A lead singer Jason Perry, as well as French producers Yves Jaget and Mickael Laguierri.[1]

On 28 April 2008, Ivyrise released their first single, "Tips", which entered the BBC Radio 1 Independent Chart at #5 in the UK. The single also entered both the HMV and 7 Digital Top 20 Bestsellers List during its first week of release.[2] In May 2008, Ivyrise toured the UK in support of the first single and won a competition run by thelondonpaper to support Bon Jovi on the Lost Highway Tour,[3] opening for Bon Jovi on 28 June 2008 at Twickenham Stadium.[4] Ivyrise's second release, "Disguise", entered the BBC Radio 1 Independent Chart in the UK at #2 on 6 October 2008. The single was remixed by Jason Nevins.[5]

Ivyrise signed a record deal in France with My Major Company/Warner in 2010 and went to Sonic Ranch in Texas with Jason Perry in February 2011 to record their first LP. Ivyrise toured as main support for British band McFly in March/April 2012. The Keep Calm And Play Louder Tour called at 30 places throughout the UK and was the band's most extensive UK tour to date.

A special bilingual English/French version of the band's debut single release in France featuring Swiss singer Dania Giò was released in France and other francophone markets. That version peaked at #90 in the French official singles chart in August 2012.

In popular culture

In October 2012, Ivyrise recorded the Jean-Jacques Goldman hit "Je te donne" with Ben Falinski appearing in duo with Leslie Bourgoin. The bilingual French/English song is featured on the album Génération Goldman, which was released in France on 19 November 2012 on and went immediately to #1 being certified a diamond album with sales in excess of 500,000 within the first month of release. The album has sold 900,000 copies worldwide as of August 2013.

Ivyrise were the sole British act on the album with singer Ben Falinski interpreting the bilingual French / English song co-written by Jean-Jacques Goldman and Michael Jones. The track has charted in SNEP, the official French Singles Chart reaching #38. A music video[6] was also prepared for the single which has received in excess of 8.5 million views on YouTube as of August 2013.
