Isoetes howellii is a species of quillwort, a type of lycopod. Its common name is Howell's quillwort. This is a "primitive" aquatic plant native to western North America which grows in wet habitat such as vernal pools. It produces pointed, cylindrical, bright green leaves approaching 30 centimeters in maximum length. It reproduces via spherical sporangia.
