Island province
An island province or an island state is a province or state with jurisdictional extent encompassing the whole land area of an island.
A province cannot be called an "island province" if a certain part of the island is governed or administered by a separate province. Some provinces include several smaller islands.
Some of the recognisable island provinces are:
- Bali in Indonesia
- Cebu in the Philippines
- Dinagat Islands
- Easter Island (Islas de Pascua or Rapa Nui) in Chile
- Hainan in the People's Republic of China
- Hawaii in the United States
- Hokkaido in Japan
- Isle of Wight in United Kingdom
- Jeju-do in South Korea
- Loyalty Islands
- Phuket in Thailand
- Prince Edward Island in Canada
- Riau Islands Province
- Tasmania in Australia
- Western Province (Solomon Islands)
