Iris Szeghy

Iris Szeghy (born 1956) is a Slovak composer of Hungarian ancestry.

Biography

Iris Szeghy was born in Prešov, Slovakia. She studied piano and composition at the Conservatory in Košice and composition at the Music Academy in Bratislava.[1] She continued her studies in Budapest, Warsaw, the University of California in San Diego, and at the STEIM Studio in Amsterdam. From 1992 to 1993 she was composer-in-residence at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart, and later at the State Opera in Hamburg.

Iris Szeghy lives and works in Switzerland and has won international composition awards. Her work have been performed and broadcast in Europe, America and Australia.[2]
