Ireland Live is an Irish television news and current affairs service produced by UTV Ireland.

Overview

Ireland Live features national, international and regional news, including extended reports, interviews and sports coverage during its flagship hour-long programme at 10pm on weeknights. UTV Ireland's chief news anchor is Alison Comyn with Newstalk breakfast presenter Chris Donoghue co-anchoring the 10pm programme.[1]

The news service is produced and broadcast from UTV Ireland's headquarters at Macken House in Dublin's Docklands, with district reporters and camera crews based at regional newsrooms in Cork, Limerick and Galway. UTV's Northern Ireland newsrooms in Belfast, Derry and the Parliament Buildings in Stormont are also utilised.[2] International news coverage is provided by independent broadcast agency Feature Story News.

UTV Ireland's head of news is Marcus Lehnen with Margaret Ward as executive producer and Mick McCaffrey as Ireland Live's news editor.

Broadcast times

Ireland Live airs two main programmes on UTV Ireland each weeknight - a 30-minute early evening news at 6.30pm (competing with the long-established Six One News on RTÉ One) and an in-depth hour-long programme at 10pm, including feature reports, interviews and analysis. On Friday nights, the second half of the 10pm programme consists of an extended sports segment, presented by Ger Gilroy.

Short news updates are broadcast at 6.07am, 7.07am and 8.07am on weekday mornings, as part of UTV Ireland's simulcasts of ITV's Good Morning Britain, which began on 2 February 2015.[3] Currently, no news programmes are broadcast at weekends, with the exception of morning weather forecasts.
